When I started doing parcord knot work, I struggled through quite a few knot projects (inclulding my first long turks head hiking staff handle wrap) using nothing more than needle nose pliers for parcord tools. I knew there must be a better way, and of course there was. A fellow knotter I met online sent me a custom made "fid", or paracord needle. I can be seen using this fid in my How To tie the Turks Head Knot YouTube video. Shortly after posting this video, I was inundated with requests about the fid knotting tool! It took about a year before I found the perfect 550 cord lacing needles to offer my customers. These must-have knotter's tools are available in two styles, brass fids and steel fids. Each type was personally selected by me for being uniquely suited for different knot tying purposes.
I prefer the steel lacing needles for forming looser knots like the manrope knot (see video below) as they are shorter (3.75") and have a more pointy tip than the brass fids. I use 4 steel paracord needles a time, one on each working end to speed up the work (no need to constantly remove and reattach the fid to the working end of the cord). The brass lacing needle is best for knots that get tighter while you are working them, like a long Turks head knot or when using a jig to tie a turks head knot. The longer length (5") gives prying leverage and the flatter tip makes it easier to get it under cords.
Price is for a 550 cord fid kit that includes ONE 5" long brass fid, and ONE 4mm diameter, 4" long medical grade stainless steel fid (no stains or discoloration). The most popular combination; one of each style, buy together and save! (typically shipped within 2 wks)

I have only used them a couple of times although they have done exactly what they were made for. I wish they were a set of four because when joining paracord it would be easier to use the same fids instead of two different kinds but I still have gotten it to work.

Excellent quality metal tool. These handy tools expand my choice of projects. Easy to use and they really make some otherwise difficult threading of paracord through tight patterns very easy.

I knew that if this product worked, I could give my bracelets a cleaner finish. But, I wasn't sure how easy it would be to use. Within a short period of time, I was able to effectively use the product and I really like the ability to lace a longer section of the finished cord back under the weave of the bracelet. The finish looks nicer and reduces the possibility of the bracelet becoming undone. I would highly recommend this product.

The fids and needle work great make tucking so much easier I had one fid and lost it needed to order more. I make call lanyders for a call Co and this makes it so much faster when I'm making 30 or more at a time.

Sturdy and longer than most. Aluminum leaves something to be desired. These are superior in every way. Flatten tip brass one is my go to unit for turks. I'll be back for the smaller diameter ones soon enough I'm sure. Thanks
